NDLEA seizes 1,378kg of cannabis, arrests suspect in Edo
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Edo State have seized 1,378 kilograms of cannabis and arrested a suspected trafficker in a major crackdown on drug distribution networks.
The state’s NDLEA Commander, Mitchel Ofoyeju, disclosed that the suspect, Roland Owie, 37, was arrested following a raid on an illegal warehouse in Igbanke community, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.
He said the operation, based on credible intelligence, led to the recovery of 125 bags of dried weeds suspected to be skunk cannabis.
Ofoyeju described the seizure as a significant blow to drug trafficking in the state.
“This operation represents a major dent in the distribution network of these harmful substances and underscores our commitment to supply suppression,” he said.
He added that the seizure would help prevent the drugs from reaching streets, schools, and communities, thereby protecting young people from substance abuse.
According to him, disrupting drug supply chains remains a key strategy in weakening criminal networks and enhancing public safety.
