Board’s Chairman, Mallam Yero Bello, who stated the body’s feelings at a press briefing in Abuja, urged all stakeholders to put necessary machineries in place to improve the performance of students in the various examinations.

“The stakeholders should also endeavour to curb incidence of examination malpractice in future examinations as the council, on its own part, will continue to apply appropriate sanctions on cases of examination malpractices,” he added.

He disclosed that the board reviewed the activities of the council with respect to the conduct of the 2009 June/July SSCE internal, November/December SSCE external, Junior School Certificate Examination and the National Entrance Examination into Federal Unity Senior Secondary Colleges.

According to him, the board is desirous of repositioning NECO to meet with the challenges of the future in the conduct of credible examinations in line with its enabling law and within the context of the Road Map for the Nigeria educational sector.

Mallam Bello commended NECO’s management for conducting credible examinations.
