The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The Council’s Ag. Director, Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, in a statement on Thursday revealed that 186, 291 candidates registered for the examinations in 12 subjects.
According to him, the candidates were drawn from the 36 states and FCT as well as five Foreign Countries.
“The examination which commenced on 20th April, 2026 was successfully concluded on 30th April, 2026.

“The Result of the Examination was released following the successful conclusion of the 2026 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at the Council’s Headquarters in Minna, Niger State,” he said.
Sani said that during the meeting, the Chairperson of the Award Committee and Director, Basic Education, Ministry of Education, Folake Olatunji David, who represented the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, expressed satisfaction with the processes leading to the successful release of the result.
The Award Committee Meeting was also attended by some Secondary School principals from across the Country as well as NECO Management.
He said the Award Committee has, however, approved the date and time for the 2026 BECE Re-sit examination scheduled to hold on 22nd and 23rd July, 2026 for Mathematics and English Studies.
“The BECE Re-sit examination is conducted for candidates that have conditional deficiencies in Mathematics or English studies or both.
“The Re-sit examination is to enable affected candidates remedy deficiencies in mathematics and English Studies, which allows them gain the necessary certification for admission and placement into Senior Secondary School (SSS1) without repeating a full academic year,” Sani added.
