The North East Development Commission has commissioned the Infectious diseases laboratory for carrying out Covid-19 test, burn center, flags off the construction of 500 units mass housing estate in Adamawa State.
Managing Director NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, disclosed this to newsmen during the flagging off of 500 mass housing units in the state.
The infectious disease laboratory which is fully equipped for the testing of Covid-19 and other diseases is located at the Adamawa Specialist Hospital.
“During our last visit, we promised donating to the State a fully equipped Infectious Diseases Laboratory for the testing of COVID – 19 and other diseases. It gives me great pleasure to announce that you will formally commission the Laboratory at the Specialist Hospital, Yola, today for the benefit of mankind. We have already commissioned those in Borno, Bauchi, Taraba and Yobe states while that of Gombe State will be commissioned shortly,” he said.
Alkali reiterated that the commission has inaugurated Burn Center at the Federal medical Centre (FMC), Yola so as to address the incidences of burn injuries and other related matters.
“To make the Burn Center and other facilities of the FMC more functional, the Commission will provide a Bore-hole 500KVA Power Generator and 10,000 litres of diesel for a start.”
He said the Commission reflecting on its mandate decided to extend the gesture to replicate same in the other five States of the Zone by the construction of 500 houses in each State.
