At the state level, the state governments have equally set up various pilgrims’ welfare boards to ease Hajj exercise for the people. The situation is the same at the local government level as the local government chairmen now set up schedule offices to facilitate Hajj operations.
The schedule office is charged with the responsibility of collecting Hajj fare from intending pilgrims from the local government; facilitate airlift and accommodation for pilgrims. Of note is the performance of the schedule office of Yola-North Local Government.
Even though the Yola-North schedule office under Alhaji Yau Gambo has been working hard to justify its mandate, it is important to call on the officials to redouble their efforts.
I will like to also use this medium to commend Gambo over his personal sacrifice to ensure hitch-free Hajj operation last year.
It is on record that adequate payment of pilgrim’s BTA last year in Saudi-Arabia in line with the rules set by NAHCON made the Hajj to be a huge success.
Because of the performances recorded by the schedule office, the new Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Ibrahim Njobdi, has promised to do all he can to ensure that this year’s Hajj operation record more successes.
It is therefore imperative to commend the efforts of the Yola-North Local Government in the way(s) it has made the last year hajj a huge success.
The two-month sensitization programme also helped in enlightening pilgrims to perform Hajj with ease. Hope other leaders will emulate the gesture.
