Technical education is a programme that consists of exploration career options, support basic academic and life skills which enable achievement of high academic standards.
In this light, there is urgent need to take another look at the curricular of different levels of education; it is the bedrock of educational system especially now that science and technology have become a dominant factor in the education sector.
For Nigeria to be among the best 20 nations of the world in 2020, a lot of contributions are expected from the aspect of technical education trainings.
Technical education is a pivot to national development; it is that aspect of educational process which involves the study of applied science, technologies, acquisition of practical studies, attitudes, understanding and the knowledge related to occupations in various sections of the economic and social life.
Nigeria is sure on the road to greatness if technical education is given the desired attention. There is need to increase the nation’s technological base to be on the threshold of a higher level in the list of nations.
To this end, planting the seeds of technical education in every student will bear much fruit in the form of citizens who are actually involved in decision making and who can contribute to the functional growth of the society.
