The programme was introduced to boost infrastructure and academic standards of public universities towards making them more competitive.
The VC commended the programme when the House of Representatives Committee on Education visited UDUS as part of its annual routine oversight function to institutions under the federal ministry of education.
He described the oversight function of the representatives as apt, pointing out that as public officers, they need to deploy government funds, human and material resources appropriately for the maximum benefit of Nigerians.
“I wish to assure you that we are indeed doing just that,” the VC stated and expressed appreciation for the funds appropriated to the university this year while urging for more in the 2015 budget.
The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Education, Hon. Aminu Suleiman, commended UDUS over projects it has executed and for ensuring implementation of the federal character policy.
He, however, expressed concern over the state of the university bridge on which rehabilitation work has stopped.
