The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has handed over 786.6 tonnes of assorted grains to the Edo State Government for distribution to the vulnerable.

Speaking during the event, NEMA’s Director General (DG), Mrs Zubaida Umar, said the grains were aimed at cushioning the effects of high cost of food items in the country.

Represented by the acting Director of NEMA (South South), Walson Brandon Ibarakumo, Mrs Umar said the items were in fulfillment of President Bola Tinibu’s promise to reduce the impact of the current economic downturn in line with the Renewed Hope agenda.

She said, “We are here to hand over 786.6 metric tons of food items such as maize and garri to the state government for onward distribution to identified deserving vulnerable Nigerians in the communities through constituted committees in each of the local government areas.”
