NEMA donates to pupils of Kano IDPs’ school

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated relief materials worth millions of Naira to pupils of Kano Boarding Primary School for Borno children orphaned by insurgency.
The school was established by the immediate past governor of Kano state, Engr Rabi’u Kwankwaso to cater for 100 selected children whose parents were killed by insurgents.
Presenting the items to the State Deputy Governor, Professor Hafiz at the school premises, the agency’s Northwest Zonal Coordinator, Alhaji Musa Ilallah said the items were donated to support the pupils.
“We were here in the school some months ago for an assessment to establish the needs of the pupils and after submitting our recommendation, the Federal Government gave approval and directed us to bring the items to pupils,” he said.
He expressed hope that the items would be used for the purpose donated to enhance the living condition of the pupils.
Ilallah commended Kano state government for establishing the school and urged wealthy individuals and other corporate organizations to contribute their quota to complement governments effort.
Responding, the state Deputy Governor, Prof Hafiz Abubakar represented by the Permanent member one in the state Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Sale Kibiya commended the agency for the gesture.
He said the state government had concluded arrangements to admit another set of 100 children into the school.
 “The Kano state government has already begun discussion with the Borno government on the plan”, he said.
The items presented at the occasion include bags of rice, maize, millet and guinea corn among others.
