The coordinator of the Abuja office of the Agency, Mr Ishaya Chonoko, said this in IIorin at a seminar on ‘Camp Management and the Incidences of Collapsed Buildings’.
The seminar, organised at the instance of NEMA, attracted volunteers from the 16 local government areas of the state and representatives of security agencies in the state.
Chonoko said the agency had already visited the camp sites in Kwara North, where the highest cases of disaster occur in the state.
He gave an assurance that camps would be provided with all necessary amenities to make life comfortable for the victims during their temporary stay.
Chonoko, who spoke on the objective of the seminar, said it was to sensitise the participants on the need to respond promptly to disasters in any part of the state.
He called on the state government to give more support to the state Emergency Management Agency to train the  volunteers on how to rescue victims.
Earlier, the Secretary of the state Emergency Management Agency, Hajia Salamat Yahya, said the government was embarking on a campaign to avert disasters in the state.
She urged the participants to make use of the knowledge acquired from the seminar to complement the efforts of the state government in averting disaster.(NAN)
