The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has clarified that Senator Nenadi Usman is not a member of the party, distancing its leadership from her recent appointment under a political coalition in the state.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its chairman, Elder Patrick D. Ambut, the party explained that the appointments of Senator Usman and Hon. Bashir Saidu were made by coalition partners comprising political parties, groups, and individuals working together to challenge what it called “the rudderless administration of the APC.”
Ambut stressed that the ADC’s leadership structure in Kaduna remains intact and unaffected by the coalition appointments, noting that the positions created within the coalition are “entirely separate and distinct” from the party’s executive structure.
“The appointments were made by coalition partners who have come together in a collective, patriotic effort to rescue Nigerians from the current hardship and maladministration of the APC government,” the statement read.
He further explained that Senator Usman, who also serves as the Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, represents her party’s commitment to the coalition and not the ADC. “Her appointment aligns perfectly with her party’s role in the ongoing collective rescue mission,” Ambut added.
The ADC chairman dismissed reports suggesting that Senator Usman had defected to the ADC as false and misleading. “This clarification has become necessary to dispel the false narrative being circulated in some quarters that Senator Nenadi Usman has defected to the ADC. That claim is entirely false,” he stated.
Ambut reaffirmed that the elected State Executive Committee of the ADC remains fully in charge of the party’s affairs and that the coalition activities do not alter its internal leadership or structure in Kaduna State.
