The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has continued his series of engagements with opposition figures in Kano, paying a courtesy visit to one of its chieftains, Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya.
Senator Gaya, a founding member of the APC, who later joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), received the party chairman at his residence in Abuja.
In a post on his verified Facebook page, Professor Nentawe described the meeting as “warm and focused on the unity of Kano State,” adding that both leaders agreed on the need for dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
“Democracy is strengthened not by division, but by our collective resolve to put the interests of the people above political differences,” he said.

The visit came a few days after the APC chairman held two separate meetings with Senator Rufai Hanga, the lone NDC Senator in the state and a close ally of the party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Those engagements were similarly framed around peace and unity but widely interpreted as part of APC’s broader strategy to woo opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.
The former Kano South Senator, who left the APC a few months back and joined Kwankwaso in the ADC, before following him to NDC, lost the party’s ticket to return to the Senate
Although no full details of the meeting were revealed, observers said Gaya may consider going back to his former party, even though he may not get its ticket ahead of 2027.
