The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) has announced the appointment of Mr Uchenna Ogbonna as the Executive Director of the Ernest Shonekan Centre for Legislative Reforms and Economic Development.

A statement yesterday by the group says Mr Ogbonna’s appointment will make him the first executive director to head the centre.

“With this appointment, Mr Ogbonna became the pioneer Executive Director of the Ernest Shonekan Centre (ESC), launched during the 29th Nigerian Economic Summit (NES 29) in October 2023. The centre aims to promote legislative, regulatory, and judicial reforms to enhance economic competitiveness and improve Nigeria’s business environment.

“Mr Ogbonna’s extensive experience and visionary leadership align perfectly with our mission to drive positive change in Nigeria’s economic landscape,” the statement quoted Dr Tayo Aduloju, CEO of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), as saying.

It added that Aduloju expressed confidence in the new appointee, noting that, “Under his stewardship, the centre will continue to make significant strides in influencing policy and fostering sustainable growth and the NESG look forward to the innovative solutions and strategic direction he will bring to the centre.”

Reacting to his appointment, Mr Ogbonna said, “The centre’s mission is to serve as a knowledge platform that aggregates and deploys research to facilitate an enabling environment for business in Nigeria.”
