President of the association Chief Musa Shehu Isiwale, who expressed support for the policy during an interactive forum with journalists in Abuja, added that the policy will also boost the manufacturing sector of the economy.
Isiwale disclosed that his association has already keyed into the policy by signing a memorandum of understanding with a foreign investor to establish a high capacity buses assembly plant to produce high quality affordable buses for commercial purposes.
He said, “As a serious and important stakeholder in the automobile and transport sectors of the economy, we are fully in support of the new federal government automobile policy.  The policy, when fully functional will boost employment and the manufacturing sector of the economy.”
He added that since his assumption of office six months ago, the association has employed 23 graduates, with the least paid receiving N53, 000 monthly, stressing that RTEAN is working on establishing a drivers’ academy in all states of the federation, three modern parks with a police post, 60-room hotel and a dispensary across the 36 states and Abuja.
The president also debunked claims that the association is factionalised, stressing that some sacked members of the association who were dubiously using RTEIN which people may think is RTEAN to defraud were apprehended by the police and charged to court for impersonation.
