Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has sworn in Ali Musa Hardworker as the duly elected Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Area, following a court judgment that nullified the tenure of the previous occupant.
Daily Trust reports that the development followed a ruling by a Kano State High Court which nullified the Certificate of Return earlier issued to the former chairman, Abdullahi Ghali Shitu, a candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The swearing-in ceremony was held on Tuesday evening at the Government House, Kano, shortly after the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSEIC) issued a Certificate of Return to the new chairman.
This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
Governor Yusuf, while administering the oath of office, charged the new chairman to discharge his duties with honesty, dedication, and a strong commitment to grassroots development.
The governor urged Hardworker to justify the confidence reposed in him by the people of Kumbotso by prioritising their needs and ensuring inclusive development across all wards.
Ali Musa Hardworker expressed appreciation to the governor and the people of Kumbotso for the trust placed on him, pledging to work towards improving the welfare of residents.
