The newly appointed Board Chairman of Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital (MAUTH), Alhaji Bashir Usman Gumel, has pledged to advance the institution’s services in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, signaling a renewed focus on accessible and quality healthcare in the region.
Chairman Gumel began his tenure with an official visit to the hospital in Yola, where he was warmly received by the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Professor Adamu Bakari Girei, and the hospital’s Top Management Committee (TMC).
During the visit, he was given a detailed briefing on the hospital’s operations and ongoing infrastructure development, followed by a comprehensive tour of key departments, laboratories, and facilities.
In his welcome remarks, Professor Girei expressed confidence in the chairman’s leadership and assured him of the administration’s full support in achieving the hospital’s goals.
Chairman Gumel, in turn, emphasized a collaborative approach, lauding the efforts of the hospital staff and management.
As part of his visit, the chairman paid a courtesy call on the Lamido of Adamawa, His Highness Alhaji Muhammad Mustapha Barkindo, who pledged the full support of the Emirate Council.
“I thank the Lamido of Adamawa for his warm reception and pledge to work wholeheartedly for the development and advancement of Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital,” Gumel said.
Accompanying the chairman were Honourable Nazifi Sani, Member of the House of Representatives for Gumel/Maigatari/Sule Tankarkar; Dr. Abubakar Isah Maiha, Chairman of the Board of Katsina Teaching Hospital; and other notable public and political figures—underscoring the strategic importance of the appointment and the shared commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery in the region.
