The Ondo State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of Felix Ohagwu as the 47th Commissioner of Police in the state.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.
According to the statement, CP Ohagwu succeeds Adebowale Lawal following his deployment by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security and enhance policing across the country.
The Command described the new commissioner as a seasoned police officer with extensive operational experience, noting that he has served in several investigative, operational and administrative capacities nationwide during his more than three decades in service.
Upon assuming office, CP Ohagwu pledged to consolidate on the existing security architecture in Ondo State while prioritising the protection of lives and property.
He stated that the Command under his leadership would intensify proactive policing, intelligence gathering, community engagement and collaboration with other security agencies to combat crime and criminality across the state.
“The Command under my leadership will remain committed to transparency, accountability, professionalism, respect for human rights and a corruption-free policing system,” CP Ohagwu said.
He further assured residents that officers and personnel of the Command would continue to uphold integrity, ethical conduct and quality service delivery in line with global best policing practices.
The new commissioner also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police for the confidence reposed in him and commended outgoing CP Adebowale Lawal for his contributions to peace and security in Ondo State.
