Realme, a Chinese based consumer technology company making smartphones and other lifestyle technology devices, has officially announced its presence in Nigeria with the launch of realme Note 50.
Launched in China in 2018, realme is the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand.
In the first quarter of 2020, realme emerged the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand, with an annual growth rate of 157%.
As at November 2023, it surpassed 200 million smartphone shipments (global).
Ahead of the Friday’s launch, realme representatives: Antonio Ran, head of Marketing, Nigeria; Yusuf Adebari, digital marketing lead, Nigeria, and Olamide Kaka, head of Sales, Nigeria, hosted tech journalists to a Q&A session in Lagos.
According to Adebari, within three years, realme became one of the top 5 smartphone players in 30 markets globally.
He said realme was established by Sky Li in 2018 and its philosophy appeals to young consumers in the world’s rapidly developing economies.
Speaking further on the arrival of the new smartphone in Nigeria, Ran said realme Note 50 comes with a 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and IP54 dust and splash resistance and a 7.99mm thickness.
The realme Note 50 runs on Android 14-based realme UI T Edition.
“The display of the handset has a 180Hz touch sampling rate and 560nits of peak brightness.
“It is powered by a Unisoc T612 chip onboard paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage (expandable to 128GB)”, he said.
For optics, the realme team suggests a dual rear camera setup comprising a 13-megapixel primary shooter and a secondary sensor, he added.
For selfies and video calls, there is a 5-megapixel camera on the front, he said.
