Yobe state’s Head of Service, Alhaji Saleh Abubakar, said a N300 million furniture loan would be distributed to the state civil servants to motivate workers ahead of the New Year.
The Head of Service disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Damaturu on Friday.
He said the state civil service is the engine room of governance, which needs constant motivation and welfare to run it smoothly.
"The loan would help them (workers) enter the New Year happy and positively affect their performance", he said.
He said, within his short period in office, many civil servants in the state had benefited from local and overseas capacity building and trainings that enhanced their efficiency and effectiveness.
"With this, we have noticed a total change in values, habits and behaviour of our workers towards the service. Evolving from the old filing system to automated, and idea-driven system.
"Also, to encourage the workers, their salaries are prompt and up-to-date. The administration is also up-and-doing in prompt payment of pension and gratuity, and other incentives to give them a sense of job security for effective service delivery to citizenry" he added.
He promised that the state government is ready to provide more incentives to workers, for smooth public service at all levels.
