A yet-to-be-identified woman has dumped a newborn baby near a stream in Chibiri village in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.
A resident of Chibiri, Yakubu Suleiman, said the baby, covered in a wrapper, was found on Saturday by a woman who was going to the stream to wash clothes. He said the woman rushed back to alert other residents, who came to the scene and found the baby alive.
He said, “It was on Saturday morning, around 6:23am when a woman who was going to the stream to wash clothes saw the newborn baby abandoned close to the stream and she rushed back home to report it.”
He said some vigilantes from the community went to the scene and took the baby to a motherless home in Kuje town.

One of the vigilantes, Saidu Alkali, who confirmed the discovery, said the baby was rescued alive and has been taken to a motherless home in Kuje.
