Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) in collaboration with Kano State government with support from the World Bank yesterday signed the engagement of an engineering design consultancy firm for four water conservation structures and minor irrigation facilities.
They are to be constructed in Tofa, Shanono, Makoda and Takai local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the ceremony, NEWMAP state project coordinator, Malam Musa Shu’aibu, stated that the execution of the project under NEWMAP was in line with the provisions of project component document.
The Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Ali Haruna Makoda represented by the permanent secretary, Malam Baba Halilu Dantiye, revealed that the state government would continue to offer its support to see that the project succeeds.
