The Federal Government is targeting agro-led growth and wider access to finance for small businesses as part of measures to expand non oil exports.

This is just as the Nigerian Export Import Bank (NEXIM) is set to engage young entrepreneurs on the opportunities.

NEXIM Managing Director, Abubakar Bello, will on Tuesday, September 2, address a breakfast session organised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Wing, led by National Youth Leader Dayo Israel.

Israel said the forum will empower youths with knowledge on funding, market access, and opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He added that the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to reduce reliance on oil and expand revenue. “If we are to create more local jobs and attract foreign exchange into Nigeria, we must increase our non-oil exports,” he said. “We must provide information to entrepreneurs on how to access funding and technical support, and support our businesses to compete globally.”

He explained that Bello’s presentation will focus on access to finance for SMEs, agricultural value chains, strategies for expansion, and NEXIM’s role in promoting agro-led growth while integrating Nigerian youths into global markets.

Israel noted that the APC Youth Wing has in recent weeks hosted other high level sessions with government officials, including Communications Minister Bosun Tijani and Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko, to mobilise youths for national development.
