Neymar Jr. Picks Up a Fresh Injury 

Brazilian Superstar and Al Hilal forward, Neymar Jnr has picked up what could be a long-term injury, over the just-concluded international break. Neymar who signed for Saudi Giants, Al Hilal not long ago, has had a pretty destabilising year so far, falling out of place at PSG, and signing for the Saudi side. 

Alas, recent reports coming out of several sources confirm that the winger has torn his ACL and his meniscus. The event happened during Brazil’s latest World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay at the Centenario. “It’s a very sad moment, the worst of my life”,  Neymar wrote in a letter addressing the situation. 

Neymar is now expected to undergo surgery, which will be followed by months of recovery and rehabilitation. 

Italian Betting Scandal 

Italian football players, Sandro Tonali and Nicolò Fagioli have been under investigation by Turin’s prosecuting unit. The duo are both actively playing for the Italian National team, and are currently left out of the first team, pending further findings.

Messi opened the scoring for Argentina in the latest World Cup qualifying match against Puru at Estadio Nacional de Lima in the 32nd minute. Ten minutes later, the 36-year-old gave Argentina a 2-goal lead. Messi has now added the Conmebol’s record to his long list of football records.

• Most consecutive Champions League top scorer awards 
• Most decorated football player of all time, amongst others.

In other news, Messi has also reportedly won the 2023 Ballon d’Or following his exploits with Argentina in the 2022 World Cup. The Argentine will now travel to France with his camp to attend the award show, slated for October 30th.
