All Film Schools and Film Academies operating in Nigeria are also to be enlisted in the documentation exercise.  Similarly, all Film Festivals, Festival Awards, Exhibition and Markets are to undergo the documentation process, which commences this week, Wednesday June 11, 2014.
 In a statement in Jos, the Nigerian Film Corporation explained that the dearth of verifiable information on the film industry informed the object of the documentation exercise. This will ultimately lead to the robust film industry for Nigeria.
 The consequences of a regulated and a well documented industry invariably will enable film practitioners access funds meant for the sector, and enable the sustenance of adequate industry support policies by government for effective intervention in the film sector; the statement added.
 The statement quotes, Dr. Danjuma Dadu, the Corporation’s Managing Director as saying that, the documentation of Guilds and Associations will focus on persons and or group of persons who are entitled to practice as registered professionals within the Nigerian motion picture industry.  The list of Practitioners at the end of the exercise will be published, alongside the recognized Guilds and Associations.
 The absence of the database on film training institutions , film festivals and markets, and Film Guilds and Associations to guide domestic and foreign  organizations, and governments of film producing and friendly nations to attend, participate and support Film Festivals Exhibition and Markets in Nigeria, among others, the Nigerian Film Corporation says, is the bane of the industry. The documentation exercise will invariably lead to the publication and distribution of a compendium of recognized and accredited Film Schools and Film Academies,  Film Festivals, Exhibitions and Marketers, and Film Guilds and Associations in Nigeria for the guidance of sponsors, intentional and domestic film financing and investment companies and the general public.

 Also further details on the documentation exercise of Guilds and Associations, Film School and Academies, Film Festivals, Exhibitions and Markets will be published in the nation’s national dailies.
 Meanwhile, Dr Danjuma Dadu has reiterated that the entire exercise is meant to provide the needed pathway for the Nigerian Film Industry to grow. Reliable data on number of practitioners, number of film production, investment inflow, job creation and many more, he averred are still absent in an industry that is over twenty years old. The NFC boss said that the Nigerian film industry is capable of creating over 500,000 jobs (direct and indirect) annually, and that the documentation of Film Production Studios, Sound Stages, and Post Production companies will also be undertaken before the end of the year, 2014.
