The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has begun the search for a new coach for the U20 Men National Team, otherwise known as the Flying Eagles with the federation requesting applications from suitably qualified candidates.
This follows the expiration of erstwhile coach Ladan Bosso’s tenure and an unimpressive showing at the Africa Games in Ghana.
In a press release, the NFF outlined the qualifications and requirements for the role, stating that the vacancy was also open to coaches of all ages, whether locally or in the diaspora.
The NFF specified that candidates to possess at least a CAF B License, must have been in football coaching for at least five years, be conversant with Nigeria’s domestic game, possess strong leadership qualities and be able to communicate effectively in English language.

The NFF further revealed that the candidates must also be upright and transparent in the discharge of their duties, be ready and willing to work with the NFF Technical Department and NFF Technical Sub-Committee, must have attained some level of success in coaching in the past three years and be ready to work cordially with the NFF leadership.
They also announced that the application process would close on Sunday, August 4, 2024, after which there would be a “thorough screening process”, culminating in the naming of a successful candidate.
The Nigeria U-20 side – the Flying Eagles – were last seen at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, where they advanced to the knockout stages. However, their journey ended in the quarter-finals after a loss to South Korea.
