NFF budgets over N14b for 2024, silent on Waldrum

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced a budget of over N14b (fourteen billion, four hundred and ninety-four million, four hundred and sixty-nine thousand and ninety=three naira only) for the year 2024.
The above sum was approved yesterday by the congress of the football federation at its 79th Annual General Assembly which was held in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
The AGM held a few hours to the AFCON 2024 qualification match between the Super Eagles and the Falcons and True Parrots of Sao Tome and Principe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.
According to the communique issued at the end of the meeting “The Congress approved the Nigeria Football Federation’s 2024 Budget proposal of the sum of N14,494,469,293.00 (Fourteen Billion, Four Hundred and Ninety-Four Million, Four Hundred and Sixty-Nine Thousand and Two Hundred and Ninety-Three Naira) only.”
So, even as there was no breakdown on how the budgeted amount will be raised and spent, the NFF will be spending over N14b on its recurrent and capital expenditures in 2024.
However, the NFF was silent on the fate of Super Falcons Technical Adviser, Randy Waldrum, whose contract with Nigeria expired in August.
There have been speculations that the NFF had sacked the coach who guided the nine-time African champions to the Round of 16 at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand.
Although Super Falcons didn’t perform badly, the NFF appear to be reluctant to continue with the American following his open confrontation with federation a few days to the kickoff of the women’s World Cup.
