Last week, it was reported in some sections of the media that the chairman has come under pressure and is threatening to throw in the towel if there is any undue interference in his job.

However when he spoke to Trustsports, the chairman denied being under any form of pressure as he stated unequivocally that so far nobody has tried to influence his committee in any way.

He explained that right from the day he accepted to lead the electoral committee, he did not hide his determination to remain impartial to the end of the exercise and so he believes that even those who would have loved to come to him have correctly read the writing on the wall.

Mustapha maintained that as long as he remains the chairman of the electoral committee, he will neither change his position nor do anything to give undue advantage to any of the contestants.

“I want to tell you in clear terms that I have not been approached by anybody for any favour. I have been allowed to do my job without any interference. No contestant or member of the NFF has approached me for any favour so I cannot say that I am under pressure.

“This is so may be because they know that I am not ready to do anybody’s bidding. Even if they come, I will not change from what I have vowed to be. I am going to remain impartial to the end”, he stated.

He said he will allow the electorate to decide on those who would constitute the next board of the Nigeria Football Federation.

“It is the congress that will decide who would make it to the board of the federation. My responsibility is to conduct a free and fair election. Consequently whoever wants any favour from me will be wasting his or her time. Contestants must concentrate on convincing members of the congress”, he said.
