Historical antecedents and empirical evidence are all in favor of Dr. Ngama as the person most certainty to provide the much needed difference, because of the socio-economic, political and spiritual dispositions in him. What actually makes Dr. Ngama distinctive among the array of politicians is his simplicity, compassion and intimidating credentials. This is because people-oriented type of leadership is what the state needs at this material time and not the type that will be hinged on sectionalism. For this will surely and clearly negate the very foundation upon which democracy and the state itself is established.
Reliable and thoughtful in judgment, witty, loyal and generous, Dr. Ngama understands that the pursuit of real change must not only involve a broadening circle of collective efforts but also a strong and abiding faith in God. Nonetheless, his venturing into politics has transformed the atmosphere into a people oriented one.
Based on these he builds a formidable link with people of diverse ethnic and religious groups, having cemented a strong and purposeful relationship through his large heartedness.
This is a period in our political journey when politicians are examined and assessed. While some are having their political profile diminishing due to non-performance. Others like Dr. Ngama are having their credentials astronomically rising due to feats they achieved while serving the people. Hundreds of Yobe indigenes were employed at various federal parastatals through his influence.
That Dr. Yerima Ngama is an embodiment of tenacious skills founded on knowledge and competence is no longer in doubt.
Yobeans must remain resolute in their determination for change. We must break away from past mode of governance that yielded very little for the masses and gargantuan riches for a few. It becomes imperative for the electorate to challenge the existing order for good governance to thrive. This can only be done when people genuinely know themselves and strive towards common good of the society, devoid of emotion and material gain.
The armory of political gladiators with dark antecedents’ oiled by selfish political gizmos should be ostracized like waste. They are carryovers from the past whose long political visibility conveyed nothing to our people. Most of these interest groups have overwhelming antecedents characterized by greed and subjugation. They should not be allowed to define the future of Yobe.
Every Yobean is a stakeholder in the future of the state and so what we do or fail to do will have a bearing on what befalls us in the future.
