A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Right Minds Empowerment Initiative (RMEI), has cautioned commercial motorcycle operators against the use of drugs and other banned substances.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organisation, Mr. Ogu Ocholi Samson, gave the charge during a sensitisation and awareness programme organised for motorcycle riders operating at Dukpa community in Gwagwalada at the weekend.

He said the organisation’s aim was to promote full recovery of people with drug use disorder through counselling, prayers and meditation.

He also said the programme would expose the participants to the dangers of drug abuse, adding that the primary purpose of the group was to help people reconnect with God. He said once such people used drugs and alcohol they were disconnected from doing what is right.

“At Right Minds Empowerment Initiative, we establish a relationship with God and our activities are to sensitise the public on the dangers of drug abuse.

He said majority of accidents today were caused by those riding under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

He commended the Federal Government for banning the importation and production of codeine cough syrup in the country.

“The abuse of codeine syrup by some Nigerian youths is becoming worrisome and it is having negative impact on them,” he said.
