NGO donates sanitary pads to vulnerable girls in Kaduna
Menstrual Hygiene Day was celebrated every May
A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Centre for Media Advocacy for Mother and Child (CAMAC), has distributed sanitary pads to 100 girls in Abakwa community and Government Secondary School (GSS), Ungwan Boro, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Executive Director of CAMAC, Alex Uangbaoje, said the distribution of sanitary materials, especially to the most disadvantaged and vulnerable girls, was a continuation of a campaign they launched in 2020, adding that the organisation believed that providing women and girls with free sanitary pads would improve their healthcare, menstrual hygiene and fuel sustainable economies.
Uangbaoje, who was represented by CAMAC’s Education Coordinator, Milla Michael, further said the Menstrual Hygiene Day was celebrated every May 28 to create awareness and highlight the importance of good menstrual hygiene management.
The Women Leader of Abakwa, Zulaihat Muhammed Bello, appreciated the NGO for recognising their community as one of the beneficiaries.
The Principal of GSS, Ungwan Boro, Mrs Jonah Gandu, also thanked CAMAC for choosing girls from the school as beneficiaries.
