The Kano State chapter of the Arewa Development Support Initiative (ADSI) has graduated its second batch of 76 youths trained on skills and empowered them with start-up kits.
The graduation ceremony was held at the city campus of the Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK), on Saturday.
The Chairman of the occasion, Ja’afar Na’abba, said the gesture was given birth from funds contributed from members of the initiative aimed at combating unemployment among youths.
He said, “This training is one of the many initiatives of this organisation, and we hope it goes a long way in being sustained and make the lives of many of you better.
“Hold onto what you are being trained to do, be truthful to yourselves in all dealings and try your best in improving your businesses.
“We want to be proud of you and we want the society, your families and everyone to be proud of you. Don’t sell the things given to you. Remember you were doing nothing when you were enrolled. So, go out there and be better.”
In his remarks, the acting State Coordinator of ADSI, Professor Aliyu Abdu, who disclosed that N3m was set aside to assist the beneficiaries, said, “Our aim is to see youths transform into better persons, helping themselves and many others. We want to see you become self-reliant and nothing more.”
