A non-governmental organisation, Lead Global Initiative (LGI) has trained 500 youths in the North East on leadership, community organising and active citizenship in Yola. 

The summit (GILS) is designed to have leader’s representatives of LGI from the six northeastern states to participate and train others on good governance and leadership. 

The Founder of the LGI, Hon. Shina Abiola Peller said as 2023 approached, there was the need  to engage the youth to get involved in leadership. 

Peller said LGI was providing opportunities to the youth to use their talent in building their immediate community. 

 “This is the time to reflect back and re-write our own stories. If we want to do that we must identify the larger percentage of the society, which is the youth, and we must be able to engage them to be problem solvers right from their immediate community.” 

The Commissioner for Agriculture, Umar Daware said the major problem of Nigeria is unemployment adding that there is the need for the youth to engage themselves in skill acquisitions.
