The Godspeed Leadership and Mentorship Development Initiative (GLEMDI) has honoured Dr. Lazarus Gaza, a philanthropist and public servant, over his support for orphans, widows and communities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking at the ceremony Thursday in Abuja, Habila Kayit, Executive Director of GLEMDI, said the NGO decided to honour Gaza having closely monitored his leadership style.

Kayit said: “Today, we are gathered here to pay tribute to a distinguished public servant, philanthropist, mentor and trailblazer. Your unwavering commitment towards creating a society where human dignity is respected has been truly remarkable.

“Your selflessness, generosity and compassion have brought hope and joy into the lives of families who had lost all hope. We have observed your leadership closely and can confidently attest that it embodies excellence which deserves recognition.

“We applaud you for your long-standing support towards orphans, widows and other vulnerable groups within our society.”

Responding, Gaza while thanking the NGO for the award said, giving back seamlessly to the society was part of his calling from God.

He said: “Thank you very much indeed for this great honour bestowed upon me today; I am deeply grateful.
“Receiving this award means so much not only to me but also my family; words cannot express how elated I feel right now. To be honest with you all, I was not expecting anything like this at all.

“Giving back seamlessly has become second nature because I believe it is part of my calling from God. There are no hidden resources somewhere that enable me to do these things. The secret behind my ability lies solely on acknowledging God as owner and sustainer.

“It gives me pleasure being associated with programs run by GLEMDI, rest assured; I’m committed contributing positively towards achieving set goals.”
