The NGO which has the support of the Society for Family Health (SFH) gave lectures to members of the community on how people living with HIV/ADS have rights just like any other person.
The coordinator of the NGO, Ladi Wayi said they were happy to be part of the world in marking the day. She emphasised that testing the community members for HIV and creating awareness on access to drugs, and right to living were some of the things they highlighted. She explained that the theme of this year day “Access and Human Rights” means access to all kind of opportunities in education and healthcare services for people living with the virus.
Hajiya Aisha Halliru of the Youth Environmental Developmental Association called on the people living with HIV in the area to keep abreast with developments in the use of anti retroviral drugs. She urged the women to utilize the chance to test free which will confirm their status, noting that the nightmare is over now since no victim would be emaciated because of the virus, as the drugs are free.
The village head of Farawa, Alhaji Salisu Sani said they were impressed with the activities of the NGO in the area and called on the people to be faithful to their partners to ensure the safety of the society. The Society for Family Health in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development provided support for the activities aimed at educating commercial motorcycle owners and other participants.
