President of an NGO, Hope for Wells (HP), Mr Kenneth Wang tests run a new borehole at GSS Dangara, in Kwali area council on Monday.

An international NGO, Wells for Hope (HP), has commissioned two solar boreholes it sank for residents of Unguwar Azarachi and the Government Secondary School (GSS), Dangara, in Wako Ward in Kwali Area Council of the FCT.

Speaking during the commissioning of the borehole at GSS Dangara on Monday, the President of HP, Kenneth Wang, said the gesture was aimed at cushioning the effects of the water problem facing the school.

He said his NGO had been offering assistance, especially in the area of water, to towns and communities in Nigeria, saying many rural communities lacked access to potable water, hence his desire to provide water.

He further said, “Since I was a kid, I used to come to Wako community and I discovered that they were having a challenge in the area of access to potable water. Out of compassion, I decided to sink two boreholes for both the secondary school and the people of Azarachi.”

In his address, the Etsu Wako, Alhaji Abdulaziz Usman Ibrahim, said, “Long before now water had been one of the challenges facing the school and the entire Dangara community. And as one of the products of this great school, we used to go as far as Sabicha stream to fetch water, but today, a big sigh of relief has come the way of both students, staff and people of Dangara community.”

He commended Wang for the gesture, even as he advised beneficiaries to make good use of the facilities.

He also thanked the MD of the Viju Milk industry located in his chiefdom for collaborating with the NGO for the success of the project.

On his part, the Village Head of Dangara, Malam Umar Salihu, commended the NGO for the gesture.

He said, “The only borehole we had in Dangara is the one Senator Heebat Ireti Kingibe sank for us, and the moment there is no sun, my people had to go to the stream to fetch water.”
