NGO takes breast cancer awareness to market women

A non-governmental organization, International Care Community for all Race and Rural Environment (ICCARRE) yesterday organised an awareness outreach to sensitize market women on breast cancer.

The president of the organization, Ndukwe Eugenia  who spoke to Daily Trust in Abuja at the start of the three-day event said “this event is to reach out to the women out there, to educate them on the need to sensitise themselves on the issue of breast cancer especially the market women in the rural communities.”

She said the organisation annually at the end of May holds a health week and this year’s theme is “When you save a breast, you save a life.”

Abdulgafar Esuola, a medical doctor who was present at the event spoke to the women on self-examination, causes, treatment and preventive measures.
