The called was contained in a communiqué passed at the end of a one-day town hall meeting organised by the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) in collaboration with the Transition and Monitoring Group (TMG), held at GSS Fantai, Hadejia, Jigawa State, signed by Malam Yusuf Yaya, chairman, communiqué committee and Haruna Adamu Hadejia, secretary, communiqué .

The communiqué observed with dismay how local government administrations had failed in the discharge of their expected duties.

It noted that the needs and priorities of the communities were not adequately addressed, adding that budget of the local government had never been made public.

The communiqué while proffering solutions to electoral process said people of proven integrity should be encouraged to join politics in any community.

It also said, in screening candidates at local level, elders of the community should be mainstreamed and their opinions sought before declaring a candidate, adding that every community member must be registered in order to exercise his right during election.
