This was made known by the founder of the organisation, Mahboob Khan Sahil and the assistant general manager, Mohd Aftab when they paid a courtesy call to the Media Trust Headquarters in Abuja yesterday.
Sahil disclosed that the organisation, based in New Delhi, was formed by a group of self-employed Indian professionals in order to help people in need of medical and health facilities.
“Our mission is in three areas: rendering free healthcare services, facilitating medical travels to India, as well as partnering with health institutions and medical professionals in the country to provide the services,” he said.
“We have visited and established contacts in Kano, Kaduna, and Abuja in order to ensure the success of the programme. The medical camps will be established in the next three months to provide free health services to Nigerians in some designated places which will be subsequently extended to other places.”
According to Sahil, in Kano they will partner with Al-Basr and Al-Furqan foundations while they have a female medical doctor in Abuja who will serve as the country director of the organisation.
Aftab, who also works with the Nigerian High Commission in India, explained that treatment in India is about 10 times cheaper than in Europe, United States and other places, and India is recognised for its excellent medical practices and qualified medical doctors.
Other areas the NGO plans to partner with Nigeria include in nurses’ training programmes in India which will be offered with a special discount. They will also help patients select the best hospitals while preventing doctors from exploiting patients, adding that they also provide accommodation to the patients while in India.
