A press statement by the Special Assistant to Executive Secretary, Mr. Nelson Campbell, said that the workshop is meant to create cultural awareness to the public on security issues, as it will examine and bring to fore the best approaches to sensitizing Nigerians on national peace and security.

Theme of the Conference, which is “Propagatıng Peace and Securıty through the Medıa: Agenda for Arts Wrıters and Edıtors,” is poised to promote professionalism in news writing and reporting among the arts writers in Nigeria, and the resource persons are Professor Femi Shaka (Film and Media Scholar, Theatre Arts Department, University of Port Harcourt), Ali Mohammed Ali (Managing Director, Peoples Daily Newspaper), and Jahman Anikulapo (Editor, The Guardian on Sunday Newspaper).

Since inception in 2010, the workshop has been NICO’s networking platform to brıng culture to the fore in natıonal develepment, and it also offers a pedestal for State Governments to interface with arts writers and editors on cultural matters.
