Workers of Nigeria Communication Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) has suspended its planned strike action scheduled for this week.
The workers under the aegis of Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies have threatened to shut down all activities in the company if the management failed to review their terms and condition of service, this week.
The General Secretary of the association, Comrade Ayo Olorunfemi, announced the suspension of the action, while addressing the workers at a meeting held at its conference room, on Friday.
According to Comrade Olorunfemi, the leadership of the union resolved to suspend the strike because the management has agreed to work with the union to ensure that the issues of the workers welfare are addressed.
He said, “The management of NIGCOMSAT has assured the union than there would be no retrenchment of workers, while there won’t be victimization of any worker.”
He said the management is carrying out staff auditing, adding that the management had assured that it would not lead to retrenchment of workers.
