Niger 2019: Isa Kawu, the game changer

It is no more news to say that Niger state is one of the less developed states among its peers that were created in 1976.

Even though the state had been governed by different people of different background (military and civilian), it is yet to get it right in terms of development – infrastructure and living condition of its populace.

The return of the country to democratic rule in 1999 gave Nigerlites, like many other Nigerians, hope that their state will change for better.

The administrations of Engr. Abdulkadir Kure and Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu tried to put in place developmental strategies that will ensure development of the state in all sector. Be as they tried, the state is still lagging behind in so many ways.

But at no time in the history of the state had Nigerlite felt absence of government like the present administration of Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello.

Coming from a business background, Nigerlite had hope that he would make a change. However, that hope has been dashed, as no one could pinpoint any project ( started and completed) by the present administration, except interlock done along street lights in the state capital, painting of schools and poor quality roads rehabilitation among others.

As elections is fast approaching, Nigerlites are now left to a choice between the children of the elites in the state, who want to govern without having a workable blueprint that will change the lives of ordinary Nigerlite for better; and somebody whose life has since been dedicated to serving his people. Hon Isa Kawu, one of the governorship aspirants of Action Democratic Party, ADP, whose primary election is tomorrow is the man eminently qualified to get the ticket.

Ever since he was in the Niger state house of assembly, Hon. Isa Kawu had carved a niche for himself as man of integrity, incorruptible, straight forward, focused, and result oriented leader.

Growing up in a community with the poor and middle class, he understands the pulse of each group, and work to do what will benefit everybody.

He has brought a lot of critical attention to politics in Niger state because of his integrity and principle. When he was in the state house of assembly, Kawu operated constituency office for the 8 years as a member representing Bida 1 constituency and was always there for the people Fridays to Sundays except for a few weeks.

He was the most outspoken member of the 6th/7th legislator in the state assembly, and rejected unholy allowance and gratification from both the leadership of the house and the executive. He rejected the so called official Prado jeep, because to him it was a waste of resources.

It is known that he remained in a rented one bedroom apartment until he completed his country home after ten years.

Kawu lives a very simple and open life, and is mostly refers to BUHARI of Niger state.

Members of ADP across the state are therefore advised to vote Isa Kawu, a person who understand what they need and is ready to serve them to the best of his ability.

A victory for Kawu in the forthcoming primary election is a guaranteed victory in February 2019 governorship election which will translate to positive developments across the state.
