The Niger State Emergency Management Agency said four bodies of the victims of a boat mishap in Shiroro Local Government Area of the state have been recovered four days after the incident.
Ibrahim Audu, the agency’s Head of Information and Special Duties, said in a statement that those whose bodies were recovered were Farida Muntari, Sharhabila Sagir, Abubakar Sadiq, Na’ima Ibrahim, Amina, Safaratu Ibrahim, Sadiq Ibrahim and Rafiya Yakubu, all from Zangoro village.
He said the names of two of the victims were yet to be established.
Daily Trust had reported that a boat with 34 people on board capsized on Thursday evening, killing 10 people while 24 were rescued.
The passengers, mostly traders, included 20 males and 14 females, among whom were 8 female children and 6 female adults.
Others were two male children and 18 male adults.
