The Chief Judge (CJ) of Niger State, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik, has released a prisoner from the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Suleja, and granted four others bail.
In a statement, the spokesman of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), FCT Command, A. S. Duza, said the CJ, who was accompanied by magistrates and other principal officials of the Ministry of Justice, reviewed a total number of 60 cases, ranging from murder, kidnapping to armed robbery.
The FCT Controller of Corrections, Francis John, on behalf of the Controller-General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa, appreciated the CJ and her team for the intervention and called on her to advise magistrates and justices in the state to adopt non-custodial sentencing in order to reduce the number of inmates.

He urged the released inmates to be of good behaviour and ensure that they were gainfully engaged with trade to avoid reoffending.
