The commissioner who spoke in Minna at the final of this year’s annual Jomirota Basketball and Life Clinic organized by the Time-out Four Africa Foundations held at the ultra modern sports complex in Minna, said the contribution of the foundation couldn’t have come at a better time than now when all attentions seem to have shifted to the game of football.

Abdullahi, while calling on other well-meaning individuals, private and philanthropic organizations to contribute their quota towards the development of sports in the country, noted out that the dwindling fortune of sports in the country was due to poor funding by government.

He commended the Time-out for Africa Foundation for organizing the basketball and life clinic for the third year running, and assured that the sports ministry will partner with the foundation in order to enhance the development of the game in the state.

“This is the only way that we can catch them young and develop the interest of the game in them. We know that government alone cannot do it and that is why we commend the contribution of this non-governmental organization, the Time-out for Africa Foundation and we urged others to emulate this gesture”.

Earlier the President and Chief executive officer of the time out for Africa foundation, Mr. Jonathan Kolo explained that the annual basketball clinic was his little way of contributing to the development of the game in the country.

He disclosed that the annual clinic which cost the organization over N1.5million to organize is designed to teach the children the basic fundamentals of basketball, which include shooting, dribbling and passes.
