The representatives of Niger and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have emerged as the winners of both the male and female categories of the 2025 Milo Schools basketball championship.
In the male category, Father O’Connell Science defeated Bishop Diemetri 66-64 while in the female category, Government Secondary School Gwarinpa outclassed Lanreleke Academy, 55-42 to emerge champions.
In the boys’ thrilling encounter, Bayelsa took control of the game during the first quarter, winning by seven margins which ended at 27-20.
They maintained the tempo during the second quarter, thanks to their captain Ogboke Woyengi who recorded four 3 point throws to boost his team’s confidence, winning the quarter 31-27.

However, the third quarter witnessed a fierce battle as Niger became resilient in the defense and flurry in attacks as their captain Levi Samuel who recorded four 3 point throws played a pivotal role to secure the crucial win of 44-39.
The victory set the tone for the fourth quarter which ended in a tie 57-57, leading to an overtime where John Musa’s last throw at the dead of the time positioned Niger two points ahead to win the title.
They were presented with a dummy cheque of N3m while Bayelsa received N2m.
In the female category, it was an easy ride for the FCT team during the first quarter as they recorded 18-7 points, but became intense during the second quarter as their opponent from Osun closed the gap with four points which ended 27-23.
However, FCT regained their dominance in the third and fourth quarters, finishing 43-34 and 55-42 to emerge champion.
FCT were presented with a dummy cheque of N3m while Osun received N2m as the runners-up.
The final was held inside the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos.
