Head of administration of the company, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Kenchikaza, who represented the general manager said Badeggi rice mill jointly owned by Niger State government and all the 25 local government areas of the state is currently being rehabilitated.
Kenchikaza said the mill was established in the 80s and was functioning properly until it was abandoned for about 16 years now due to poor management and inadequate funding, adding however that, “the state government is now making concerted effort towards resuscitating the factory and resuming full production, as it has partnered with Deanshanger, an indigenous company.”
He said the partnership between the state government and Deanshanger is yielding results as renovation at the facility has started though the “pace of the work is very slow”.
Kenchikaza who is also a member of the committee set up by the state government and Deanshanger company to look into the re-opening of the rice mill, said production will commence in earnest as soon as all the necessary arrangements are put in place.
