The first batch of 500 housing units is made up of 300 units of two-bedroom bungalows while 200 units of three-bedroom flats are to be built in Maikunkele, a suburb of Minna, the state capital and Suleja in Suleja LGA.
The General Manager of the state Housing Corporation, Mohammed Baba Adamu made this known last week while briefing newsmen in Minna.
He said the governor had signed the Certificate of Occupancy for the land for the construction of the houses. The certificate will be kept by the Italian Ital Works Nigeria Ltd.
According to him, the construction firm has secured the commitment of some Primary Mortgage Institutions (PMIs) and a foreign consortium for the funding of the project with a view to reduce the housing deficit in the state.
He added that under the memorandum of understanding, the state will provide the infrastructure on the two sites, adding that the project is expected to be completed within 12 months.
In his remark, the Managing Director of the construction firm, Engineer Crisa Gaetano assured the state government of delivering the project in accordance to specifications saying as part of social responsibility of his company, a block of four classrooms with headmaster office will be built on the Maikunkele site of the project in honour of his friend and colleague Domeni co Gyto.
He said the late Domenico Gyto was founder of Gito Construction Company based in Nigeria. He passed on recently after a brief illness.
