Niger State will soon establish an ultra-modern Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF) Centre, that will assist patients across the state, wife of the state governor, Dr. Amina Sani Bello, has said.
In a statement by her chief press secretary, Aisha Wakaso, Dr. Bello said as a prelude to the establishment of the centre, free surgeries for VVF patients has begun with surgeons drawn from Kano and Katsina states.
She said at least 20 VVF patients have benefited from the free surgery initiative called “free surgical camp” in Kontagora.
Bello said the gesture, which is aimed at improving maternal heath in the state, targets indigent women living with the condition but who cannot afford to pay for the required surgery.
