Nigeria @ 50 arts competition receives over 260 entries

“The aim of this year’s edition is to develop budding and emerging artists. A call for entries nationwide was made via the internet, electronic and print media. Over 260 entries were received at the closing date of 30th June, 2010” a statement from African Artists’ Foundation. AAF, and Nigerian Breweries Plc organizers of the competition said.

Participating artists were required to interpret their vision of Nigeria at 50 through various art media. The entries were in various genre including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, installation and video art. The AAF selection committee scrutinized the works and shortlisted the entries to a total of 30. All shortlisted finalists would be part of an all expense paid workshop. They also have the opportunity to compete for cash prizes to be won in this competition: 3rd prize – N500, 000.00, 2nd prize – N1, 000, 000.00 and the 1st prize – N1, 500, 000.00.
