Minister of Communication Technolgy, Dr Omobola Johnson, who made this call at the main session of the 9th Internet Governance Meeting (IGF) held in Istanbul, Turkey, noted that such cooperation was imperative due to the cross-boundary nature of the Internet.  She said that intergovernmental organisations and multilateral agencies such as UNCTAD, ITU, the World Bank and others, should play important roles in promoting and facilitating access because they have the required expertise in their fields of work as well as the power to bring together different stakeholders to work to achieve set targets in global internet connectivity.
